I used PPG hardened urethane paint over epoxy primer, then got marine grease at NAPA. This marine grease is really tacky and resists water more than usual chassis grease. WHen I assembled the leaf pack I used this grease between the leaves.
I also had the leaves re-arched to the proper height, and had an extra leaf installed to help maintain this height, as spring experts told me that re-arching alone would not "hold".
