Chris:

Being a former card carrying Teamster, and also a former member of a local labor union, I can agree that unions have not always acted in the best interest of it's members or the country as a whole, HOWEVER, there was and still IS a need for them.

Most of these companys come in and see what the lowest amount of money they have to shell out. They LOOK for hard hit areas and go in and end up lookin like some kind of saviors. Remember company towns?

This ain't a new thing, and MOST large corps do this. Did ya know that the largest foreign investor in the US is the UK (still)? Japan is towards the bottom of the top 10.

I freaked when I discovered that 80% of the school buses in the US were owned by a single Dutch firm (actually, 11 years ago). Like Mike said, don't blame the unions, blame the companys that agree to the union demends as they are generally the cause of this whole mess to begin with.

They always look at the BOTTOM LINE, and really don't give a rat's ass about any hardships they may cause. Our politicians give em a nod & a wink cause they're gonna get theirs. BOTTOM LINE, it's our fault for allowing this to go on and continue.

It's also just to deep of a subject to be able to just say a few words about. There is also no simple answers or solutions either.

Ugg
