The 360 is externally balanced. If you want to go cheap and just get the truck going again, the 318 is the way to go. If you want to put a 360 in it, you'll need a 360 torque converter or flywheel. You didn't say if it was automatic or stick.

Let's assume it's an automatic. You must use another smnall block engine as the BB uses different bolt patterns. You can get a 360 torque converter but I would strongly recommend that you have a torque converter rebuilding place flush it to make sure any junk in the old trans. doesn't get into yours. The last one I had done ran around $15 to have one wallered hole welded shut and rethreaded and then the converter flushed.


The manifolds are different between the 318 and the 360. however, the W300 used special manifolds different from other Mopars of that year. If it were me, unless i wanted to modify a lot of stuff, I'd go with a good strong 318. There isn't as much demand for them and they tend to be a little more reasonable on cost.
