For Sale or Trade: 1954 Model C1-PW126

This was originally a Civil Defense truck in the 1950's. It has a tank body with original hoses and Wisconsin model BKN engine/pump (stuck). Also has deluxe cab equipment, vacum brake booster, working sirens and top mounted signal light.

Truck was purchased by the Kingwood Volunteer Fire Department in Preston County West Virginia. Was originally Sonora Blue, now painted gray with VFD logo. The VFD installed a Chevy 327 engine and transmission and converted to 12 volt.

Body is stock straight, except where firewall was cut to fit in the 327, and where diamond-plate running boards are welded to front fenders. No dents. No dings. Front bumper and frame lightly bent, easily straightened. No winch (easily added). Very attractive brush guard.

Truck was purchased by a private individual in 1989 with 45,000 miles on the odometer. He took the rear differential out for use in another PW and let the truck sit outside since then. There is considerable rust around the door frames, on the cab floor, and areas of the tank body. Only rust through is bottom of passenger door. Frame is very good with no separation.

Engine runs great. Brakes work. Can be driven in front wheel only. The rear differential comes with the truck and needs to be rebuilt. Rear axles need to be replaced. I have a set that I might provide in the deal.

Bottom line is I bought this truck for parts, but it's really too good to part-out. It's rusty but very restorable as a fire truck or as a flatbed. Wish I had found this one ten years ago. As is, I'm asking $2,300 or best offer. I would trade for a 30's to 60's one-and-a-half ton flatbed with dual rear wheels or a conventional cab Power Wagon, preferrably 1957. If it doesn't sell, I'll be looking for a flatbed to put on it myself.

E-mail me if your interested and I'll try to answer any questions. Will try to post pictures. You can call me at (724) 627-5511 days; (304) 598-3590 evenings. Truck is located south of Pittsburgh on I-79. Thanks.
