I have found no rust preventers to actually work, so I'd say get yourself a sander
and grind that rust off as much as possible. Then prime it.
A good spray gun only costs around $60.00 USD, and you can rent a
compressor.

Get any color you like, and shoot it! You can also still find some automotive laquers
available at places like NAPA. Brush those on, and then fine-sand it out, and polish until
as sharp as you like.

Painting isn't as hard as it seems. It's also not as easy as it looks.

Basically, take your time. Preperation is everything for the finish out-come.

Go ahead, give it a try! The worst that will happen is you'll have to re-do it.

It ain't the end of the world.
