I've been told that the Mopar model 36 is the correct heater for the '48 pw's. It mounts soley on the in/out pipes via the 1" steel tubes that surround the pipes. This allows it to rattle nicely. I added a small strap to the underside of the dashboard to stabilize it. Perhaps your truckmaster will put out more heat than my model 36! Be sure that it's mounted far enough to the right so it dosen't also rattle against the transfer case levers as mine does courtesy of someone 50 years ago.
