Only the top of the T was at an angle. The leg was riveted to the fender, the low side sealed to the fender, and the high side sealed to the cab. In place, it looked like the seam was caulked at a 45 degree angle. Tended to wear the paint off the cab, you might be able to see that wear , depending on the paint prep at previous re-paints.

Mine were missing, but I've previously owned 7 FFPW's, back to a '41 in '76.

The point of the welts is to keep mud from seeping through, and down the fenders. Or, in the case of the fender 'anti squeak', mud can get thrown clear up in through the window.
