All the fender welts I've seen were fabric/vinyl covered. About 1/4" cord inside. The edges get pinched between the parts, with the cord part visible in the corner of the parts. Done that way at the rear fender and bed. Then, more of the same between front fender and splash shield. Then, a different, much bigger, rubber piece between fender and cab.

I don't know what VPW sells, I'm not to that stage on my own truck yet.
