My first Power Wagon had 4.89 gears. A year or so later I found another one that I was able to buy for parts. It also had the 4.89 gears.
At the time I thought they all had the same gear ratio. It was some years later that I learned that there were two ratios, and both of my trucks had the desirable 4.89 gears. A good thing, because I did put a differential from the parts truck into my good truck.
Both trucks had the wheels with the narrow rings, though I was also ignorant of that distinction.
