Hi Ugg: The WC-55 [37 mm] gun motor carriage M-6 came from the factory without any spare tire. Instead, it was shod with 9.00-16 8 ply bulletproof combat tires, which were very thick and about twice as heavy as a regular 9.00-16 tire. You will definitely grunt raising one that is lying flat on the ground. The 22 ply rating your friend recalls is far to heavy for a 3/4 ton WC Dodge, but his ply estimate based on weight is understandable.

These combat tires would not have been original to a WC-53 Carryall, but used the same Budd 16 X 6.5 combat wheel so could have mounted on a Carryall at any time.
