Nice research job! Plus, a nicely written post, you sure know how to show a guy up. :-)

I agree with the assembly Vs individual parts theroy, but it is still not clear to me when the bracket started being used.

I am pretty sure the 2wd trucks had the right side bracket as an option back to 1939 or earlier, so Dodge understood some people needed more then one tail light by 1946 for sure.

This is an interesting question, and I am not quite sure how to find the answer, unless maybe someone has a dealer book from 1946 that lists the Power Wagon and the options that could be had?
