I have removed two crossmembers almost with the technique described by Paul. Except once I ground the head off, I just heated the rivet body on both sides and smacked it out with a punch and sledge. The problem I am having now is finding a way to replace the rivets. I found the same size rivets from Big Flats Rivet Co. in New York, but no one has a bucking bar or air attachement for an air hammer to fit that size rivet. I am considering bolting for a temporary fix to get the frame painted and get a rolling chassis and continue to look for a way to replace the rivets.
