Not sure about that Don...I'm no lake boat expert but I can tell you that we're one of the last Shipyards in the North West that does major repairs on wooden barges, so we see lots of them. When they come in....you should see the size of the worms that come out of the wood!
I'm not sure how you spell it...but we call them Toridos. They're large white worms, over a foot long & 1/2" diameter!
They bore holes all through the timbers & cause havoc.
It's always a treat to get to scrape the marine growth from the bottom of one of these barges. They hang down from the hull like spaghetti & fall on your head!
Not a good job for those with weak stomaches.
I doubt Paul finds too many on his Chris Crafts. Ha Ha!
