Most of the 1957 trucks got a paper tag inside the glove box instead of a metal tag. Very few 1957s got a metal tag, and this practice carried over into early 1958, as others on this forum have found. Being paper the tag often got lost, or broke down over time. I have only heard of people finding 3-4 of the paper tags period, that is for all model trucks in 1957 and early 1958.
It does make 1957 and early 1958 trucks a bit of a pain for VIN information!
