Sorry, man. I gotta disagree with you on that.
I hate walking through yet another summer car show/cruise where there are acres of trailer queens, most of them the product of thousands of dollars spent at professional speciality shops.
Boring.
What people are calling "rat rods" are like the "real" hot rods I saw bombing around when I was a kid..things that were pieced together just for fun (on a budget) out of rusty hulks and off-brands (like maybe an old Frazier, or some scraps off a Hudson bolted onto a pickup frame). So what if it's still in primer and missing a fender. It's old and funky and you can drive the tires right off it. It isn't a sub-framed fibreglassed 350/350ed chunk of somebody's pension with a $5,000 paint job, but that doesn't mean it represents poor workmanship or a bad attitude. It's just another way of having fun on four (more-or-less) wheels.
And there's always skanky-looking tatooed girls in the mags...what's not to like?
