our 64 had the metallic brake option and would outstop the 65 disc brake ones
Alan had a 65 fulie (disc) and he would run
out of brakes running in a low gear run from our place on the mt tam road to stinson beach while our 64 stopped better as the brakes got hotter (low gear was about 65 or 70mph max)
