I might be interested in all or part if you don't want it. I got the REO because it had a big rear winch (all that was left of the pole-setting rig) and I thought I'd make a better yard crane with a good beefy boom in the rear and 8 tires under it and strong springs, rather than the typical front-mounted A-frame "crane" that tends to overload the front tires, squash the springs, and wobble from side to side. Another thought was to put a 60 kW generator I have in the back and drive it off of that PTO. With the speed selections in the tranny and the governor on the engine, I figured I should be able to hold 1800 RPM on the generator close enough for most purposes.

But I agree, trying to run a front-mounted winch off of that transfer PTO would be a hassle. My M35 has a real funky home-brew driveline mess running the front winch. The angles are steep, the U-joints are worn out, and there's a lot of butchery to the truck, all because somebody wanted a sprocket drive under the bed for some long-gone machinery. But how about rigging up a rear-mounted winch. Whenever you drive into a mess and need to get out, you'd really like the winch on the rear anyway. That's also a better location for skidding logs, if you intend to do anything like that with it.
