The only usability modification I would make to a 1942 WC would be to consider conversion to 12 volt if it is a 6 volt unit. That said, a well set up 6 volt unit will run no problem.

If your truck is original just stick with the original configuration, easier to get parts for, advice, worth more money when complete - etc, etc.
