I used to work for a place that made labels and there was one technician who kept all sorts of solvents to test the labels with to see whether a particular solvent would or wouldn't dissolve the adhesive. Sometimes the labels for some applicationw would have to be solvent-resistant and other times some customer wanted a way to remove the goo without hurting the paint or plastic that it was on. I still have one brown chemical bottle with a generic haz-mat label on it that he gave me, and I use it when I need to remove "stickum" from some painted or plastic surface that would be damaged by lacquer thinner, MEK, etc. Unfortunately in the space where you're supposed to write the name of the chemical, all he wrote was "good shit". I still don't know what the stuff is. It doesn't burn, and it doesn't quite smell exactly like any other solvent I know of, but it really does work great.
