Hi Tim, Your friend's M37 wouldn't be a Canadian version would it? That's what mine is and it's also a '54. They came with the bigger 251cid and used a Borg-Warner T-98 instead of the NP420. AMC used the T-98 in their J-10,20,30's pickups (or whatever they were called way back) from '55 to 1970 so there are still parts around. I read somewhere that early T-18 parts can be put into the T-98 case thereby being able to keep the PTO on the driver's side but I don't know anybody that's done it
