I never got the truck started with the points-style setup. Followed many suggestions here and elsewhere and just could not get a spark. Switched to a MOPAR conversion- magnetic pickup system and coil (but see bad news below) and it started! Have now joined the "need spare ballast resistors" union. BUT, once started, the starter remained engaged and was energized!?! AARRRGH. Sparks, smoke, noises, and an instantly dead battery. Pulled the stupid thing and the inside of the starter looked like Chernobyl. The good news is I can get it rebuilt. The bad news is that Chrysler maybe headed to extinction. I called the "hot tech line" for conversion parts and got the forboding "no longer in service" message.....
