The Ford has the stock variable vane turbo.
I can't tell you why running twins makes the EGT's lower...you need to talk to PDR or BD or one of the high performance diesel guys to get those answers. I think a huge turbo will give the same result, only with way more lag & black smoke. The twins accomplish the same task only run cleaner & spool much quicker.
When I installed the twins on my truck the EGT's dropped over 200 degrees.
