I cannot tell from the photos, but I'd bet you a dinner that whoever "rebuilt" that Poly used an LA cam and lifters. That would explain your bent and broken parts. The valves and heads are NOT the same and the cams do not interchange!!!!! Look at a Poly exhaust 0-0-0-0 then the LA 0-00-0 there is no way that the cam could work without some serious lifter angle going on in there.
Who did the work? The lifter is too tall (these are solids correct and not hydraulics?) Polys, except for the series 3, had mechanical lifters, not hydraulics. there is no way to properly adjust for that much difference, no wonder those rods were mashed up!
I'm afraid that you need to start from scratch with a new cam and lifters that are for a Poly.
