I never took the Sno-Cat out last winter because I didn't trust it to start. I thought maybe the linkage was sticking because of rust and/or cold. Then I was afraid the pinion was stripped out. I need to go through this cat and fix a few things before it's ready for a serious wilderness trip next year. I think I'll make a hand starter crank too just to have something to fall back on if all else fails since there's absolutely no way to push-start a Sno-Cat.
I thought maybe it was sticking because of the cold. We had plenty of snow up high, but not too much in town this winter, maybe a foot on the ground from Nov till March. I still have a little pile in my yard and we got an inch or so yesterday, but it melted fast. Still about 4' in the passes and 10' on the high hills.
