Only the 41-47 trucks got the Dodge badges mounted on the sides of the hood, the 1939-40 trucks did not. This is a minor detail, and easily changed, but I thought I would mention it.
Your hood is most likely correct in every detail for 41-47 2wd trucks up to 2 ton, and would fit the 39-40 2wd trucks up to 2 ton, but has minor cosmetic differences. In both cases it does not fit COE of course.
The hood I showed a picture of was from a 1947 WD-21.
As for E-bay, both buyers and sellers could be better informed, buying something online is hard without good information and pictures.
