okay guys, so here is the 411. i took my valve covers off, and some of the rocker arms aren't even touching the pads on the valve springs! some are so bad i don't think the tappets could even be adjusted tyo compensate. I took the valve covers off the OLD motor to compare and the valve springs, assy.etc. it looked like they were in much better shape on the old motor but, IT WAS MISSING A PUSHROD!! that engine WAS running when pulled. LOL! so, now I think I will be going through the valve train and maybe just doing a rebuild on the top end but, I will have to see what I find with the heads off......... any suggestions before I get started? like.. should I just have a shop do the job, and any ideas on cost? NORM, you are the expert, what do you think?
