Paul, mine had been rebuilt when I got it and its possible someone used the spitfire head only in a 251. When I rebuilt it I measured the stroke and it was planely a 251 not a 265. It was in a thrashed not running 1 1/2 ton truck and the flywheel was only a four bolt leading me to believe that some parts had been moved around, possibly from a Desoto. Another interesting point. The distributor cap is different than all the other (4 or 5) caps that I have and only fits that distributor which has a built in carbon resistor at the coil lead which is designed to give a hotter spark. It is a fine running engine. The Word "spitfire" is cast into the head.
