If it's a real diesel, and isn't know to be a total P.O.S., it should be handy for lots of things, even if just for a genset, welder, water pump, etc. But in terms of "underpowered", what does a stock 230 put out? 80 hp maybe? Even the big LDT multifuel's only 150 hp. The Perkins diesels are small and guys do a lot of things with them.
