My wife and I recently experienced a life changing event that has given me a new perspective on a lot of things. Because of this, and the recent trend that has been emerging here on the Forum, I think it is time for me to make some promises to myself as well as the rest of the readers.
I have enjoyed an enlightening trip down this Power-Wagon path and I owe a lot to those who have helped me learn along the way. I have always tried to repay my debt by sharing information I have with others in need. I have accomplished this, to the greatest extent, through the phone calls that come in to me from all areas of the country. Next on the list would be in answers to the emails that also come from all over. And finally, through this Forum as well as others, the PWA, and Phil’s t137.com site. So here are my promises:
1) I promise to provide answers to questions to the best of my ability.
2) I promise to research my answers as fully as possible with the aid of vintage literature I have at my disposal.
3) If I don’t know an answer, I promise to be direct and say so, rather than simply making something up.
4) If I am not completely sure of an answer, I promise to use appropriate phrases such as, “I believe”, “in my opinion”, and “from my experience”.
5) I promise to be thankful to those who correct my mistakes because I believe that bad information is worse than no information and I am still learning from my mistakes.
6) I promise not to call people names when they correct my mistakes.
7) I promise not to intentionally make others feel like subordinates because they have corrected my mistakes.
8) I promise not to change the subject in order to try and sway the focus away from my mistakes.
9) I promise not to accuse others of misreading my posts in order to sway the focus away from my mistakes.
10) I promise interject some humor when needed, not be a total business only guy but not a complete comedian either, and to not jump in and hijack threads for the sake of shifting attention to “me”.
