The D2 came in on a truck from Manitoba, but the trucking firm decided to put it in a box trailer instead of on a lowboy flatbed, so the D2 was 3 feet up in the air and there was no way to unload it. The driver says, "do you know anybody with a flatbed truck?" I says to myself, hey, I got one of those back at the yard. So we pulled the D2 out of the trailer onto the bed of the PW and it just fit. It's 7500 pounds on a truck rated for what, maybe 2 tons? Not sure what the PG's are supposed to be able to sustain. But there weren't too many choices on what to do, so that's what we did. It worked out well, and I drove it 1/2 a mile back to the homestead where it sat for a little while as I pondered how to get it off the truck. It's still on there, a day and a half later. I rented a massive fork lift (visible in the pictures on the link) which was rated to 8,000 pounds, and although it could lift it, the "long way" wasn't quite going to work, and although I got it almost off, it was dangerously close to dropping, so I put it back on the truck and gave up on the fork lift. My new plan, which starts tomorrow morning, is to drive it off the PW onto my flatbed trailer, which is about a foot lower, but it shouldn't be too bad; maybe a little ramp to make a softer landing. Whew!
