The "book" shows NP420, my door tag says; 4 SYN N PROC 435 D1, or 4 speed synchronized (almost if you only count 2 gears...ha!ha!) New Process 435 D1. We used to think that D1 meant wide ratio, granny gear 1st, but many are stamped D1 and have close ratio 1st gears, so it may just designate the case? The chalk mark from the factory says B-3.
So I have an very early 435...= ) in May of 1964.
