Your quote: “The 1957 Dodge was the first factory installed 4 Wheel Drive system in a Conventional styled civilian cab. Technically the WDX-WM300 is a civilian styled cab (from 1939), but the military fenders and military parts used in the running gear and the limited production numbers make it a footnote……=)”

I would hope that anyone that has read your posts for any length of time would have realized that you were only kidding and taking an opportunity to good naturedly jab some of us in the ribs. If not, their first clue should have been the two terms: “technically” and “footnote” in the context of your post. If there were any remaining doubt, your smiley face at the end [ =) ] should have made it all clear.

Then my quote: “We already know heard [sic] from NopowerNorm and AAA- in posts below that you and I don't own REAL civilian Power-Wagons anyway. ;^)”

I would also hope that anyone that has read my posts for any length of time would have realized that I was only kidding by jabbing right back at you. I sure hope anytime that anyone who hears me imply that my ’47 WDX and ’51 B3PW trucks are not Civilian Power-Wagons had better understand that I am kidding, or they are liable to lock me up in a loony bin. I included my smiley face [ ;^) ], also at the end, just to avoid such misunderstanding. But anyway, enough kidding around.

I was not kidding about how we all spend a lot of time trying to make sure good information is out there for everyone, not just the new enthusiasts, but all of us. Because this hobby, interest, condition, or whatever, is one of a continuous learning experience. In that, I believe I can comfortably speak for all of us, young or old, new or seasoned.

It is not so much the ebay auction that gets my goat. The auction was only read by a limited number of people. It is now over. Most will soon forget. He was not totally wrong with the most of facts in his attempt to describe his truck. But he sure’s the heck was not 100% correct either. He was lucky to be 75% correct.

What burns me is the content of the ALLPAR TRUCKS article. I can’t condemn a writer for being ignorant of the facts, but I have every right to condemn him for not doing the proper research in the preparation of his article. He put that article out there for the whole world to read and he is probably proud of it. The sad thing is that he was so close to getting it right. If he were a lawyer, I wouldn’t want him representing me. The trick to being a good lawyer is not in necessarily knowing all of the information, as much as it is in knowing where to find it. The writer is not unlike the lawyer.

There are so many people out there that I consider experts on the Power-Wagon. These are people I considered to be experts way back in 1980, who had been working with these trucks for years before I became interested. People like: Fred Coldwell, Ted Hellecksen, Paul Lacy, John Zentmyer, and Paul Caudell, to name a few. There are so many places and people he could have gone to for the correct information. And the key is to use all of these resources, compare notes, and ask questions when information conflicts, and arrive at the real story. Now that the article is out there, we will probably be spending a lot of unnecessary time steering a lot of the people who read it in the right directions for the next 20 years or more….you know what…strike all of that. I like helping people. Articles and auctions like that make the rest of us all look better.
