Oil level? 140 wt?

Check the oil level. I use 140 in my crash boxes. It makes them shift easier, since it slows down the gears more. 140 is so gooey it ought to keep them big ole gears from vibrating around, making noise. Same goes for loose bearings.

Best way to put the thick stuff in is by removing the shifter, then dice the oil, and drop the chunks down the shifer hole.

In 4th, the input shaft is locked up to the output shaft, so there is no side thrust from the load on the counter shaft, and things can vibrate around.

I wonder if a worn pilot bearing could do this? Goes away when clutch released? Still in 4th gear? Anybody?
