The Flat-fender Power Wagon first built in 1946 was not geared for the average Joe "civilian" to use as a daily driver on the highways.

It was built with the intented use as a commercial vehicle. It was better suited for off-road use, and 99% of those built were bought for commercial use, fire dept, forestry, etc, to me this relates NON-CIVILIAN.

4x4s built in the early years were expensive to buy and maintain, and if you did not have a real daily use for them, the expense was too great. The same is not true so today.

The 1957 W100-200 was really built for the average joe "civilian" that required 4x4 on occasion, and the truck could be used as a daily driver easily enough with its optional V8 engine, and 4.10 gearing. This is the true grandfather of today's modern 4x4 that most of us own as a daily driver. I do not view the FFPW as such. And the FFPW is certainly not the grandfather of the modern Power Wagon owned by some such as Paul Cook.

The 1956 HW500 may have used "conventional: sheet metal, but it cannot be viewed as a civilain truck. The same can be said of the 1958-71 W300, and the 1957-1971 W500.
None of these trucks were built with the intention of being used as a daily driver for the average joe. The W300s were exceptionally more expensive than the W100-200, and very view were bought by "civilians".

4x4 Trucks larger than 1-ton and rarely built by the factory, and are mostly converted by aftermarket companies. There are now exceptions, such as F450, F550, and the GM C4500s, popular among the horse hauling crowd.
