Dodge logic question?

On Power Wagon, and possibly other modelaxles, the Dodge Engineers thoughtfully provided up with 2, 3/8" tapped holes, and were also kind enough to give us 3/8" square head set screws to tighten into these holes to remove the axle shaft. Pure utilitarian genius. I wish more things were designed with easy removal in mind.
BUT! The lock nut for that setscrew is larger than a normal 3/8" nut. A 9/16" wrench will not fit and a 5/8" is too big. So, why would they throw in an odd ball size, when you already need a 9/16" wrench to remove the nuts on the axle flange studs. Probably designed by a committee.

If you are scratching your head thinking, Gee, a 9/16" wrench fits mine, then the original nuts are out in the tall grass where they belong, replaced with a standard nut!
