Any rubber hoses directly on sawn lines?

All rubber hoses have the potential to collapse the inner layer. Adding a filter by sawing the steel line, and putting the rubber hose directly over the rough sawn 'rasp' of a fuel line causes more problems than the new filter fixes.

I would say that your system is only good enough to fill the float bowl one time. Then the suction collapses the inner layer of rubber hose. Chan
ge all the hoses to be sure. Cut the old ones open lengthwise, like gutting a fish, to see the inner layer.

True vapor lock probably gets better by loosening the gas cap. You may just have a bad pump.

Unless you have an M37, with the giant gas cap. It has a valve in the inside, set it to 'vent'. In 'ford' it seals the cap, causing vapor lock.

I don't think loosening the settling bowls would do anything for a true vapor lock. It might do something for a collaped hose, especially downstream form the bowls.
