Used Michelins or New Super Swampers?

The used Michelin 11.00x16 XZL radials on ebay went for around $300 a tire. New Super Swamper SSR radials in 37x12.5x16 sell for $287. New Super Swamper TSL bias ply tires in 13/38/16LT sell for $221.

What is it about the Michelins that would justify spending as much or more for used and possibly plugged/patched tires when the Swampers are available? If you wanted a larger than stock tire on stock rims, which would you buy, and why?
