Kurt, the starter will bolt up okay but you will need to count the number of teeth in the flywheel gear ring (146 or 172) and the number of teeth in the starter drive. I can't remember the number of teeth in the starter but it should be on Joe's archives or Gordon's PWA site. When I put a 251 in my truck I had to remove the ring gear from the 218 flywheel and put it on the 251 flywheel. I had a machine shop do it and resurface the flywheel at the same time. If you have a torch you can do it at home.
