Welder's peg tables are lots lower, 24" ?

As a wood carver, I used to use a box on the bench when I needed to raise up a small job to working height.

Don't be afraid to make each bench a different height. One of the more practical item I saw was instead of saw horses, make square boxes of different hts on each side. Flip them around to get the right height for the job. Leave one side open so you can fill it up with 'stuff'.
