Well I fianlly got around to rebuilding the front diff in the fffpw and installing the locker. And shortly thereafter (a couple hours) I broke a rear short axleshaft.

I was creeping around the parking lot at work, trying to hear the front locker ratchet. While I was doing this I saw a small patch of boulders behind the shop which I hadn't ever noticed before. So I climbed a couple just to see if it would do it.

As I was pulling it back into the shop the electrician asked me if he could take a ride. So I wheeled it back out of the shop and of course went straight for the boulder patch. However this time it wouldn't climb up on any of them, which I thought was odd.

So I pulled it back in the shop and jacked up the front end thinking that it would be a front shaft that would be broken. But everything seemed fine in the front so I jacked up the back. Sure enough the passenger side back tire just spun freely. So I disassembled it and discovered that the shaft had broken about 5 inches from the flange.

I have since ordered and installed a used one from VPW.

So today I got up and started calling around to see if I could get a set of the alloy shafts made.

So far I have called:

Superior axle and gear. Joel said "Foote does not make axles for this application and he doesn't sell to Patson parts"

Randy's R&P. "they don't make that axle" (These guys buy from Yukon)

Dutchman axles. This guy actually said he knew what they were, but he said that he couldn't make them. He referred me to this next guy.

Mike??? Said he knew where I could get a set of used OEM type shafts but not the alloyed ones.

Moser engineering said that they don't have a blank that long that they could convert to my specifications.

I tried Tibus's co. but I couldn't make the number work for some reason.

and finally I called Patson Parts and he said that he has 4 or 5 of the M37 short shafts (by Foote) but didn't know where I could get FFPW shafts made.

Any Ideas fellas????

Dylan
