We have an fella in town who's been in the battery making business for 60 years and still makes the best batteries around. It's a simple place and he keeps his batteries on the concrete floor on a sheet of corrugated cardboard. I was in his shop one day and asked "is the cardboard under the batteries was to keep them charged?" He said "no, it's to keep the floor clean".
