I and my son buy several of these to rebuild. In essence the truck is basically worthless as far as a transplant into something else because of the electronics that are nessessary to make it go. The speed sensors are located in the rearend so to make a speedo work you almost have to use the whole drive train. The engine will not bolt up to the older adaptor plates for the early 24 valve and early 12 valve cummins engines. The Trans will only bolt to the late adaptor plate and the rear ends are some funky brand, (not Dana). The fuel pumps on these engines are oil pressure regulated much like a powersmoke furd and are computer controlled. If you want to transplant a cummins my advise is to stick with an older 12 or 24 valve unit, it is easier. I am not saying it can't be done, it is just a pain in the azz. Me dos centavos worth
