I'd be all for a 4.2 Jeep in there, but the 4.0 does not have the torque off idle that the 4.2 does, unless you build a Stroker 4.0 using the 4.2 crank. I've always though that these were good candidates for a repower. You aren't going to go faster with the low gears so a V-8 doesn't gain you much unless you change the gears.
The 4bt will give you more torque, better fuel economy and not cost anymore than the 4.2, so why not go all the way....?
That ebay truck is a nice conversion though.
As for weight, the M715 used a smaller motor than the AMC 6, the Kaiser I-6 and it moved around OK.
