My factory service manual indicates that SAE140 is used in the steering knuckles, and I have used Redline SAE 140 synthetic in my '63 W-300 for about 10 years. I get a bit of dampness, but that keeps the rust off the ball surface. I put in new rubber seals from Dodge before filling it up. I support checking the drag. The bronze cones (on top) can get pretty beat up, and the rollers (on Bottom) can get rusted, causing lots of play and subsequent poor steering and wear on the CV joints. I replaced my bronze with rollers (#3100? same as bottom) and a hydralic steering damper. Rob
