Last September I flat towed my 53 B-3 over 200 miles to the Massachusettes Rally. Within 45 minutes of arriving, I was
on the trail ride enjoying diving my 53 for the first time ever. The next day, I flat towed it 200+ miles back to N.J.- all
with no problems. Had the time of my life at the Rally. By the way, It is set for September 30th.

Do the following to insure a SAFE trip.
If you dont't remove the axles, at least take out the rear diveshaft.
Disengage the front locking hubs.
Secure ALL levers
Keep the trans in neutral
Keep the parking brake off
Keep it in 2 wheel drive
keep the transfer case in Hi
I would secure the levers so they don't move.

I secured the sterring wheel with a long, high quality bunji cord with a loose 3/8" rope as a backup.
You want the steering wheel to have some ability to turn.
Take it slow and wide around turns so the front wheels don't hop too much.

If you are towing during the day, HAVE at least brake lights and signals. They are cheaper than the fines and impound yard fees.
I spliced into my tow vehicles rear light wires and I got signals and brake lights. Don't forget to gound the PW to the Tow vehicle.
I just connected a ground from bumper to bumper.

Morning dew can cause a sliding/jacknife effect on turns. Do this task on a nice day.
I had no problem doing 65mph and took all turns slowly.

I used two heavy 3/8" chain to backup the tow bar.
If you decide on a trailer, READ THE CAPACITY RATINGS. U-hauls car transporters are NOT strong enough. You can imagine what can happen if
6 to 7000 pounds let loose on the roads.
Enjoy an think SAFETY first. This is coming from an ex fire/ambulance/rescue squad member.
