Thanks for all the advice! I'm going to fab a "all slots" tool, per Gordon's comments, and I'm also thinking about turning the block on end, plugging the head bolt holes and water passage holes to the head with silcone, and filling up the water jackets with an Oxalic (sp?) Acid solution (Radiator flush stuff) This should help remove the rust that binds the tube, as well as clean up the other rust muck, but not hurt the block. Maybe it takes a week or two, but thats' OK. Of course it will be tanked and the freeze plugs replaced after this. I'll post results. Better living thru chemistry? Any comments about this?
