OT: Secret Codes on Modern Cars

My wife just got a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban, which is so new that I just can't relate to it. The owner's manual is not an option on this thing, you could never figure some of this stuff out without it. Like the oil f'rinstance: the car allegedly keeps track of the oil's lifespan by some calcualtion that involves milage and other factors, and then it tells you when it is time to change it. Now, Chevrolet hopes you will go to a dealer, but they do tell you in the manual how to reset it - get this - put the key in and step on the accelerator pedal three times (making a wish is optional, it seems), and viola, your back in Kansas with a new lease on you lubricating life.

So I'm explaining this to my buddy from MIT, and he tells me that there are a whole bunch of these maneuvers that do all sorts of things. He described one on his car that involved the turn signal and the parking brake to start the car with no key in a "limp home" mode. He speculates that our new car is loaded with these "cheat codes", if only we knew what they were.

So, anyone know anything about this? I'm quite sure that there aren't any on the Power Wagon, not that I haven't had occasion to pump the accelerator pedal a bit...
