May have done something stupid!

I have a 251CI engine replacing the original 230 in my ffpw. A while back I drilled out a hole in the side of the head on the left side for the engine temp sensor. I am on the verge of firing up the engine. Now I did this over a year ago and I know that I did it for a reason but a 'senior moment' has occured and I can't remember why I installed the sensor there- perhaps thats where it was on the original engine? Is this a mistake? If so can I recover w/o replacing the head? Or, is this ok? Boy I hate getting old - my B-day is Sunday- I'll be 52!
