Answers a question I've had for 30 years re: my command car steering box. But then it also was missing the front axle, and had a mud line diagonally across the engine- like the front was sunk for years, and the salvager dug down far enough to knock out the shackle pins. I couldn't find any box parts in 1976- Glory Be to the Internet!, I can now.
Hmmm, should the column sleeve have a slot or hole at the box, in the 6:00 position, for drainage? Aren't they slotted, for adustment, but when clocked to 6:00, would drain?
