If you are not in the deep snow and mud often, go for a 2wd. Cheap to buy but less resale. Better mpg and fewer parts to break. Easy to get in and out of the cab and bed. Dang, some of the new 4wd trucks have the box at eye level....
If you have a rear Suregrip or locker, you can still get in and out of some slick spots.
And yes, get a Cummins.
